The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights invites applications for the full-time position of Development Communications Manager to be based remotely with easy access to any of the Young Center’s nine offices (Chicago, Harlingen, Houston, San Antonio, New York, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Grand Rapids, or Washington, D.C.). Preference will be given to candidates located in New York or Chicago. A key member of the Development team, the Communications Specialist drives philanthropic results through communications and marketing tactics that engage donors at all levels. This role will execute the marketing and communications deliverables of the Development team, including high impact materials for the organization to appeal to and engage its donor and prospective donor audiences. The Development Communications Specialist is the primary liaison between the Communications and Development teams, driving the collaborative generation of ideas and stories, and accountability for philanthropy results from donor proposals, communication campaigns, appeals, and messaging.
Physical demands include regular attendance, keyboarding, sitting for long periods (at least 5 hours a day), driving. Ability to use computer, telephone, and copy machine. Ability to travel by plane, car and other conveyances within U.S. Occasional lifting for event setup/preparation.

SALARY:
$60,578 to $67,548 is the standard new hire range for this position ($66,635-$74,302 for those residing in the Los Angeles and DC metropolitan areas; $69,664-$77,680 for those residing in the NYC metropolitan area). Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location and experience. The Young Center does not ask for prior pay history from our candidates and our offer-making process is negotiation-free for salaries and benefits. We offer our best possible salary based on relevant experience. The range listed is just one component of the Young Center’s total compensation package for employees. The Young Center provides excellent benefits, including health/dental/vision insurance (employee & dependents) at no cost to the employee, paid vacation, sick time, and a 401(k) plan with employer match.

The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights is a national organization dedicated to protecting and advancing the rights and best interests—safety and well-being—of immigrant children in the United States. Through its flagship Child Advocate Program the Young Center serves as the federally-appointed bests interests representative for unaccompanied and separated immigrant children in federal custody. Child Advocates meet with children and learn their stories in order to identify and advocate for their best interests through an interdisciplinary, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive lens. The Young Center’s Policy Program fights for wholesale reform of the immigration system while pursuing immediate changes in policy and practice that center children’s rights and best interests in all decisions. The Technical Assistance Program, the Young Center’s newest program, offers intersectional expertise and critical resources to advocates and service providers working with immigrant children involved in child welfare and other state court systems.
The Young Center has offices in Houston, San Antonio, and Harlingen, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; New York, New York; Washington, D.C.; Phoenix, Arizona; Los Angeles, California; and Grand Rapids, Michigan. We also serve children through our programs in New Jersey.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Understand the Young Center’s philanthropy audience strategies and execute successful fundraising campaigns in accordance with the Young Center’s strategic communications plan.
- Develop and oversee the day-to-day implementation of digital media strategies through social media, email and SMS to improve brand awareness and boost engagement with donors specifically.
- Develop, plan, and execute end-to-end email campaigns including managing email databases, crafting engaging newsletters, managing events outreach, and leveraging web technologies to increase engagement.
- Develop and maintain a multi-media and multi-channel appeals to existing and future donor base while maintaining dashboard metrics for tracking.
- Develop and maintain evergreen philanthropy collateral, donor proposals, donor and event presentation decks, and volunteer resources.
- Track donor analytics and translate data into actionable insights to optimize future donor campaigns.
- In collaboration with the Communications Team, produce online events that aim to increase size of donor universe utilizing webinar digital tools.
- Serve as a team resource for copywriting and copy review for the Communications and Development teams.
- Other duties as assigned
- 3+ years experience in Marketing and/or Development preferably within the non-profit space.
- Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, or another related field.
- Experience working in and/or commitment to social justice movements

- Proven success at contributing to a marketing and communications strategy for a nonprofit or philanthropic cause pursuing major giving across national donor base.
- Ability to translate complex ideas and data into compelling copy and consistent coice that reflects the organization’s branding and mission.

- Experience as a member of a Development team in donor relations or as a communications lead
